2016 has been a major year for female empowerment, from politics to comic book characters it’s everywhere. With Theresa May becoming UK Prime Minister and Hilary Clinton running for U.S. President, women are taking over the world. But our favourite headline so far? Riri Williams a black woman is replacing the iconic Iron Man, oh what a time to be alive.
If that wasn’t enough, the highly anticipated trailer for ‘Wonder Woman’ was released at Comic Con over the weekend – and it’s magnificent. Gal Gadot features as the beautiful lead heroine in this epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins.
‘Wonder Woman’ is all about Diana, princess of the Amazons, and her journey to becoming one of the world’s most beloved superheroes. Her home is a sheltered island paradise, and Diana is happy there until she discovers the dark parallels of the outside world. Determined to help, she leaves her home to fight alongside man in a devastating war. Diana’s kind actions unravel a series of life changing events and powers, that will change the world.
Starring alongside Wonder Woman are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui.
‘Wonder Woman’ is released in cinemas on June 2, 2017.
