It’s been nearly two years since K-pop soloist AleXa toured the United States. The idol and her dancers tore up the stage at Distro Music Hall in Chicago on Easter Sunday.

“If I had known [beforehand] that it was Easter, I would’ve set up an egg hunt or something,” AleXa joked during the show.

On top of powerful performances, there were segments included in both halves of the performance where AleXa gave relationship advice based on fan-submitted questions.

First half: Heaven

She described the first half of the show as the “Heaven” act; white stage outfits for her and the dancers, lighthearted or “softer” tracks, and more positive love life advice. AleXa and her dancers made use of stage props during “Wonderland” and “Back in Vogue,” taking the performances to a fun new level. Her surprise cover of “Just a Girl” by No Doubt had every former alternative kid in the room losing their mind (including me).

Performances of “Xtra” and “Endorphine” kept things upbeat and fun before slowing things down with the emotional ballad “Juliet”. Before the first half of the night was over, AleXa put on angel wings and gave advice to fan-submitted questions. She stuck to the theme and gave hopeful and uplifting advice to fans to ease their minds.

Second half: Hell

During a brief intermission, the screen behind the stage played a video full of skits to keep fans entertained while AleXa prepared for the second half of the show, the “Hell” segment.

She returned to the stage in a red outfit, her dancers in red and black. Setlist choices included edgier or darker concepts like “VILLAIN,” “Do Or Die,” and her debut, “Bomb.” Alongside fan favorites, she performed several unreleased songs, giving fans a lot to be excited about.

The advice segment in this half of the show was intended to be more brutally honest, with AleXa planning to tell fans to cut out negativity, move on, dump them, etc. Unfortunately, all the questions she randomly pulled were happy and about upcoming marriages: “What song should we play for our first dance?” and, “Will you come to our wedding?” She broke character pretty quickly and admitted that she couldn’t give mean advice to such happy questions.

Fan connection

AleXa’s performances are always top-notch, but it adds a special element to the show seeing her give a moment to highlight her dancers. They shine in their own ways alongside the idol, but they were given the spotlight to dance on their own for a bit, and the fans showed them tons of love. Her fans seem to enjoy hyping her dancers up, and it’s always nice to see an artist show appreciation for those that work alongside them.

Between the high-energy performances, fun activities, and sneak peeks at upcoming music, the show was engaging and memorable. AleXa connects with her fans (A.I Troopers) very well and it shows. She spent most of her time in between songs talking to fans or answering questions that were called out to her. The bond between AleXa and her A.I Troopers feels incredibly strong, she seems to enjoy interacting with them every chance she gets.

Their loyalty doesn’t go unnoticed either. The crowd was smaller due to the holiday, but everyone showed up ready to give their all to support her. Despite the high temperature and lack of air flow inside the venue, she kept the energy level and effort at 110 percent.

If you’re looking to see a high-quality show with incredible live vocals and great vibes, then AleXa is the artist to watch. Don’t miss your chance to see this tour! Ticket info can be found here.
