Harry Styles holds his own in Howard Stern interview

The decision to be on the SiriusXM show sparked controversy amongst fans, but Harry proved he knows how to handle himself.

When it was announced that Harry Styles would be a guest on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, fans had mixed reactions. Some were excited about the prospect — after all, Howard has been in the industry for years, and the appearance would include performances and an almost two-hour-long interview.

However, others were concerned due to Howard’s “shock jock” reputation. His past is littered with controversies, most notably about women (Stereogum called it “the place where celebrities go to fuck up and tell too much about their personal relationships”), and some were calling for Harry to cancel his appearance on the show.

However, Harry fulfilled his duties and remained cool and collected throughout the entire interview. Showing up to dazzle as usual, Styles was wearing a cobalt blue sweater from the Gucci Fall 2020 collection layered on top of the same white-lace bib that he wore to the Brit Awards this year, according to Gucci. The green Gucci trousers and pearl necklace added a unique twist to the ensemble and fans loved seeing the outfit in the videos released from the show.

In true Harry fashion, however, not only did his outfit make a statement, but the way he conducted himself did as well. Howard did not hold back. Several jokes were made (including Harry sleeping with his woman therapist) that were in typical Howard fashion. Fans sounded off on Twitter, saying that they were “uncomfortable” and “angry” at Howard’s comments, but Harry never once lost his cool.

He moved smoothly through questions about his dating life, even giving praise to ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, while keeping other details private. He showed no resentment or bitterness when asked about ex-bandmate Zayn Malik or ex-manager Simon Cowell. He never took the bait to talk down about anybody. There was nothing but grace and humility, even talking about how surprised he is by his own success.

“I think about it all of the time, and it kind of just reminds me how lucky I am to be doing it, because I know there are hundreds of thousands of, if not millions of, musicians who are so far superior to me as a musician, and not every gets to do it,” Harry said.

Harry also performed his single “Adore You” as well as a new cover of Peter
Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” that left even Stern impressed.

Harry has a reputation for giving kindness even when he himself is not presented with it, and he’s shown time and time again his strong sense of character and ability to handle all kinds of people. He remains professional and courteous always, and that is something to learn from. In life, there will always be people that we may or may not get along with or comments we don’t agree with, but remaining kind is something we can all do.

“Canceling” someone or something before an event even occurs does nothing to solve an issue. Styles is a role model in more ways than one, and his character speaks for itself more with every interview.
