Calvin Rodgers is making indie-pop his stomping ground

The up-and-coming singer and his band have had a strong start—and there's more to come.

It takes a lot for an up-and-coming artist to establish their sound in a genre that thrives on edgy vulnerability.  When Calvin Rodgers released his debut single ‘Looking The Fool’ and eased himself into indie-pop familiarity, it seemed natural.

The track’s sound is reminiscent of bands like The Vaccines and Mac DeMarco—soft rock elegance intertwining itself with catchy lyrics. Calvin’s vocals are backed by a strong band that screams confidence and experience beyond their recent formation.

Many may know Calvin from his highly publicized friendship with former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson. The boyband’s never-ending popularity and their fanbase’s undying loyalty made it fairly easy to keep up with some of the members’ closest relationships, including Louis’ close-knit group of buddies. But Calvin is making a name for himself in his own way.
