Ryan Lawrie is one of tonight’s contestants on ‘The X Factor’ – here’s a bit more about him

This weekend sees ‘The X Factor’ kick off and if you’ve clicked here, you’re probably eager to know about cutie contestant, Ryan Lawrie. We’ve done our digging and found a bunch of facts for you so you can get started on becoming his biggest fan.

1. He’s a Scottish lad

Ryan Lawrie hails from Bellshill Scottland and was raised in Coatbridge, so that explains the gorgeous accent.

2. He’s 20 years old

Ryan was born on 28th May 1996, which makes him a Gemini. NICE.

3. He’s a YouTube artist


Yep, Ryan started his music career on the ever popular video site, YouTube. He then later signed to Tutrax Records.

4. He used to be in a boyband!

Ryan used to be in UK boyband, Exposure, where they completed two tours. He then left to pursue a career as a solo artist.

5. He’s released some music


His first single released back in 2013 and was called ‘You’re Free’ which you can check below. He’s dedicated it to a terminally ill fan who had asked him to write a song. Unfortunately, because of exams unable to write and record the song until after the fan had passed away. Ryan released the song in memory of the young fan with all proceedings being donated to Yorkhill Children’s Hospital, and the song peaked at number 39 in the iTunes UK singles chart.

6. He opened Capital FM’s ‘Summertime Ball’


Earlier this year, Ryan won the chance to grace the stage at Wembley Stadium to open ‘Summertime Ball’ thanks to Vodafone Future Breaker and performed to over 80,000 people. GREAT exposure.

7.He’s definitely one to watch
