Moving house – 5 emotions we ALL go through

0

Moving house has to be one of the most stressful things to go through, EVER! It doesn’t matter how much you think you’ve prepared yourself, it doesn’t get any easier. For those who have ever moved house, you’ll now exactly what I mean when I say that these are 5 things we go through.

Realising you have too much stuff

It’s surprising how much stuff you can accumulate. You don’t really know how much stuff you’ve got until you have to move. You begin to ask yourself how and why on earth you’ve managed to have so much stuff. Then begin to hate yourself for becoming a hoarding mess.

Discovery

Finding things you haven’t seen or worn in ages is quite satisfying, but frustrating too. It’s as if these items have deliberately lost themselves within your home waiting for this moment to be rediscovered. Where the hell was this when we needed it, eh?

To keep or not to keep?

This is when you need to be brutal. You end up convincing yourself that you need that t-shirt you haven’t worn for 2 years because you know what, you could wear it some day (even though it no longer fits). Then you find all sentimental shit you can’t bear to leave behind. Your keep pile becomes increasingly larger and you’re no further forward.

Where have I put things ?

So you’re packing your stuff up and trying to be as organised as possible. Labelling boxes, trying to get some order in your life. Guaranteed you will end up needing to find that one thing that has somehow managed to find itself in an unmarked location, under a pile of other things. Then you have to wait until you pack everything to find the stuff you need.

Relief

Albeit this comes at the very end when it’s all over, the sense of relief is priceless! Let’s never ever do that again…
