Is there anything Ed Sheeran can’t do? Not only is he a chart-topping artist, songwriter, producer, actor and restaurant owner – now he’s taking his shot at being a DJ and unveiling his skills to the world.

Fresh off the back of his latest single ‘Afterglow’, which is rapidly climbing the UK charts, Ed has released a remix of long-time friend Passenger’s song ‘ Sword From the Stone’. Co-produced with Joe Rubel, the ‘Gingerbread Mix’ gives a pop twist to the melodic folk tune.

The original track features on Passenger’s new album Songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted, which was set to be released in 2020 but got delayed due to the pandemic. The tracklist was reworked, with ‘Sword From the Stone’ being one of three additions.

Passenger shared the song with Ed who, according to Rolling Stone, jumped at the chance to work with him on it. “[He] was really excited about the song when I played it to him and suggested that he produce a version that could potentially work as a radio single,” Passenger said. “It’s not every day you have that kind of offer from a pop genius, and I’m so delighted with what he and Joe have come up with. It’s been such a fun one to work on.”

‘Sword From the Stone – Gingerbread Mix’ is out now.
