Black Authors Matter Book Drive – Help us donate 500 books!

We believe it’s critically important that teenagers have access to more books written by black authors. During the month of June, United By Pop and United By Books aim to collect 500 young adult books by black authors.

Our goal is to donate 250 books each to:

• The Book Truck, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that gives free books to foster care, homeless, and low-income teens throughout Los Angeles County
• Children’s Book Project, a registered charity in the UK with settings across the Capital to redistribute new and gently used books to children and their families

The Book Truck expressed that they’ve seen a huge increase in demand for books since COVID-19 closed down schools. Founder/Executive Director Elizabeth Dragga tells us, “A huge part of our mission is carrying books that reflect the communities we serve, so books by black authors would be a tremendous help. They will be put to use immediately!”

Children’s Book Project has selected three London-area schools in need of these books to which they’ll be distributed. They’ve also promised to add an additional 300 books from their own stock to our donation.

How you can help:
