Why Supernatural is still a success after 12 seasons
It comes as no surprise that even in it’s twelfth season, ‘Supernatural’ has continued to deliver. With all shows, it’s had its highs and its lows. Yet it still remains my favourite show. I’ve come too far to give up now. The show started when I was in my first year of high school. I’ve grown up with it.
With new show runners this year, I was a little sceptical. But after watching the season 12 premiere, I was reminded why I love Supernatural so much. It’s all about saving people and hunting things (see what I did there?). The re-introduction of Mary Winchester after all these years was groundbreaking. She breathed new life into the show. And I’m thankful that the show runners are FINALLY building on the Men of Letters storyline since season 8.
So why is Supernatural still a ratings success after 12 seasons?
They’re all best friends. Jared and Jensen were best men at each other’s wedding. Goals. Having a cast that are like family is one of the reasons the show has continued for this long (ain’t complaining). The previous actors/actresses always want to return because the vibe is so welcoming. I see shows that have so many problems with their cast, yet ‘Supernatural’ is not one of them.
People think the show should have ended after season 5. That’s when the main storyline ended. However, we wouldn’t have gotten amazing episodes like ‘Baby’, the 200th episode, Imaginary Friends’, ‘The French Mistake’ and heaps of others.
THE MEMORABLE QUOTES
The amount of epic quotes in this show is endless. Every episode there’s at least one memorable quote. My favourite ones are the pop culture ones. So relatable. The interesting thing is Supernatural began before iPhones and Netflix and now the world has changed. And the show has adapted. It’s quite cool.
Without a doubt, the best fans ever. They’ve stuck with the show for this long, they deserve an applause. We create gifs, videos and so much more to support the show. Without the fans, the show wouldn’t have lasted past season 3.
These characters have now become a part of us and we need to see their journey till the end. Dean and Sam are “our boys”.
Twelve years ago, we embarked on a hunting trip with Sam and Dean Winchester. They’ve literally been to hell and back. ‘Supernatural’ is a part of me now, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Here’s to reaching 300 episodes. Keep Calm and Carry On.
