The show that has taken the world by storm. The show that is so well-written, so raw and real, and so greatly acted. Ladies and gents, ‘This Is Us’ is that show. If you haven’t been watching it, where have you been?
If you’ve been living under a rock, here’s a little knowledge for beginners. ‘This Is Us’ focuses on three people who share the same birthday and how their lives are connected to each other. Trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Still not convinced? Let me give you 10 reasons why you should be watching ‘This Is Us’.
1. It’s emotional
Because who doesn’t love getting their heartstrings pulled on? I 100% guarantee that you will cry in almost every single episode. I have. Stock up on your tissue boxes. It’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster.
2. Family
Everyone’s so caught up with their shocking cliffhangers and “out there” storylines and ratings, that we’re all forgetting what people really relate to. Family. Everyday life. And I’ve never seen a show so family-orientated like ‘This Is Us’.
3. Jack Pearson
I am not kidding when I say he is the PERFECT husband. Jack’s been setting the bar so high since the beginning of the show and continues to do so every episode. Get yourself a man like Jack Pearson. Husband goals. Dad goals. People goals.
4. The characters
You don’t get a show that often that can accurately represent real and raw characters on screen. Having them deal with everyday problems exactly how the audience would. It connects you to them and makes you want to tune in every week to see what happens.
5. Self-acceptance
People judge you for all kinds of things and it’s wonderful to have a character who struggles with self-acceptance on this show. The show teaches us to love ourselves for who we are, not for who people want us to be.
6. Loss
One of the most powerful themes in the show, loss. We’ve all lost somebody. ‘This Is Us’ is almost like a therapy session where you see the characters go through the different stages of grief. I don’t really know how to explain it, but in a strange way, it does help.
7. Love
The most important thing in the world. It’s so good to see the different types of love in this show. It’s heart-warming and beautiful to see.
8. The acting
Give an Emmy award to every actor/actress in ‘This Is Us’. They all deserve it. Their acting is phenomenal. They bring so much realness to their characters which is why it’s a pleasure to watch every week.
9. There’s still two more seasons
Get comfy because NBC has renewed ‘This Is Us’ right through to season 3. Yes, thank you! Fantastic news and I’m so glad we get to spend some more time with the Pearson family.
