Sam Fender has recently released a music video to accompany his single, ‘Little Bit Closer’. The fantastic music video was directed by Philip Barantini, the ‘Adolescence’ director, and also features Owen Cooper, who starred in the Netflix drama series.
The ‘Little Bit Closer’ music video was shot in the Lake District and follows a group of friends on a camping trip, including Owen Cooper, who is having thoughts and questions about faith. It greatly aligns with the song’s theme of exploring faith and seeking meaning.
The Lake District was the ideal place to shoot a music video for a song such as this one, as the overcast weather captures the song’s mood perfectly. The wideness of the landscapes also suggests how wide the question of faith can be for some people.

‘Little Bit Closer’ is taken from Sam’s third album, ‘People Watching’. Sam said of the music video:
It’s so great to be working with Phil [Barantini] again, I had no doubt he was the right director for this piece, his video for ‘Spit of You’ was my favourite. Phil called to say he’d asked Owen if he’d like to be in the video, and that Owen was keen. I was elated that he could do it after seeing his incredible performance in ‘Adolescence’. Alongside Semera Khan [Creative Director] and the rest of the cast and team, they have created something beautiful.
