No thoughts, just yes, and?

It took GRAMMY® Award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and international superstar Ariana Grande three years for a brand new single.

After dropping her 2020 album Positions, the singer opted for a three-year musical hiatus, directing her focus towards her acting career and the development of her beauty brand, r.e.m. beauty. But on 12 January, Arianators were able to breathe again after her newest single release, ‘yes, and?’

Ariana has been teasing new music since early December by posting cryptic posts at 7AM (which relates to ‘AG7’, the anticipated seventh studio album from the singer). ‘yes, and?’ is something we haven’t heard before from Ariana. It’s a song for the dance floor, a disco tune with influences from Madonna’s 1990’s hit ‘Vogue’.

In ‘yes, and?’ Ariana addresses the rumours that have been circulating about her this year with lyrics like, ‘Your energy is yours and mine is mine’, ‘Don’t comment on my body, do not reply’, and ‘Why do you care so much whose d*ck I ride?’. The song reflects that the singer is still living her life besides all the rumours.

A music video for the single has been released too, which is also completely different than what we’ve seen before from her. The video almost looks like a younger sister of the performance from her 2016 song ‘Be Alright’. This era definitely shows a more mature side to this artist.

Ariana Grande’s highly anticipated seventh studio album will be released later this year. There are speculations that the album title will be ‘Eternal Sunshine’ after some hints in the music video. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, we can’t wait for Ari’s new era! 2024 will be the year for the Arianators and Miss Grande herself.
