Choosing only 5 tracks from the Barbie Movie soundtrack was so hard

The Barbie Movie has been taking over the world in cinemas since its release in July, it’s everything we needed and didn’t know. Greta Gerwig did an incredible job with the story that quickly stole hearts around the globe.

There’s no doubt that the movie is a huge success and we can say the same about the movie’s soundtrack. Full of big names like Nicki Minaj, Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish the songs fit the movie really well, transporting us to each one of the scenes we watched at the cinema. So here’s a list of my top 5 favorite tracks from Barbie: The Album.

1. What Was I Made For? – Billie Eilish

I can not listen to this song and not cry as I remember the most emotional scene in the movie. The fact that Billie knew how to describe the feeling from only a 15-minute clip from the movie amazes me. She did justice to the feelings that the main character goes through throughout the movie and it also fits well with how so many people, especially women, feel about life. Definitely my favorite!

2. Dance The Night – Dua Lipa

What a perfect song for the life of a Barbie, Dua got everything right with this bop. The song is catchy, and you can see yourself on the dancing floor with all the Barbies and Kens as they dance the night away. Perfect song to get ready for a night out with all your friends.

3. Speed Drive – Charli XCX

I don’t know exactly why I like this song, but I do. It gives Barbie vibes – it’s fun like Barbie and it’s catchy. It complements the soundtrack really well. Definitely added to the daily playlist.

4. Barbie World (with Aqua) – Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice

I mean, we needed the iconic Barbie World in any way in the movie, and what better way to do it than adding a little bit of Nicki and Ice Spice into it?

5. I’m Just Ken – Ryan Gosling

Ken made me furious, how could he steal Barbie’s Dream House and turn it into Mojo Dojo Casa House? The audacity! But this song is great, I can’t deny it, it translates everything Ken deals with in the movie, so we become a little more empathetic with this character. Sometimes I catch myself singing the chorus like there’s no tomorrow. So it does deserve a place in my top 5.
