Every week we’re inundated with new releases from all across the globe, some of which, we wouldn’t torture your ears with. Now that we consume so much music digitally, it can be hard to keep up with all the new releases. Don’t let these songs from Raye, Anna Straker and Pavlova escape you this week.
Raye – ‘Shhh’
You might recognise Raye’s vocals from Jonas Blues’ recent single, ‘By Your Side’. The South London newcomer is a superstar in the waiting, already scoring writing credits on an upcoming Charli XCX release. ‘Shhh’ is taken from Raye’s recent EP, ‘Second’.
Britney Spears – ‘Slumber Party’
Taken from her comeback album, ‘Glory’, Britney’s back doing what she does best, miming and doing some sexy dancing. Featuring Tinashe, the video for ‘Slumber Party’ does exactly that.
Black Saint – ‘Could You Love Me?’
Black Saint have been busy collating all their influences to create a sound that’s not only current but blends together soul, house, garage and jungle. ‘Could You Love Me?’ focuses on bass and beats, yet still promotes the message of positivity and integrity.
Anna Straker – ‘Desert Floor’
Anna Straker has been causing excitement in the electronic music sector thanks to her subtle experimentation and powerful lyrics. Having already received critical acclaim from Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Wonderland in a little over half a year, 2017 is going to showcase Anna’s epic talents even further.
Jolan – ‘Purple Rain’
Runner-up of this year’s The Voice UK, Jolan has unveiled his new 4-track EP, ‘Parallel’ released via Virgin. The EP includes cover versions of artists past and present including Beyoncé, The 1975 and one of music’s all-time greats, Prince. Jolan performed Prince’s hit ‘Purple Rain’ in the live semi-final of The Voice and this stripped back version is totally blissful.
Pavlova – ‘Burn Brighter’
Not just the name of a delicious pudding, Pavlova also makes tasty songs and if her debut single ‘Burn Brighter’ is anything to go by, she already knows the recipe to success. In just 2 months the single has exploded online, with over 2 million streams on Spotify.
The Veronicas – ‘On Your Side’
Ruby Rose is known for creating powerful and intense work, and The Veronicas’ ‘On Your Side’ is no exception to the rule. The video follows the tricky but rewarding task of staying friends with your ex, and visualises it into an intense mini-film.
The Urban Renewal Project featuring Gavin Turek – ‘Armor Love’
Are The Urban Renewal Project the largest musical collective we’ve featured on this segment of the site? I think so. The 13-piece group explore the boundaries between rock, pop, jazz, and hip-hop. Gavin Turek joins the group for the modern disco anthem ‘Armor Love’, perfect for the holiday parties.
