Demi Lovato is back with a bang (or rather, a bop) with a brand new single! ‘I Love Me’ is the pop star’s first music video since 2017 and she certainly didn’t disappoint.

The upbeat track proves yet again that Demi is one of the realest celebs out there as it sees her shine a light on her insecurities and tendency to self-sabotage, before realising her own worth. And I always got my finger on the self-destruct / But I’m a ten out of ten even when I forget.”

The video begins with Demi fighting her dark alter ego, and eventually winning, whilst her angelic self watches on – creating the perfect visual for the lyric “‘Cause I’m a black belt when I’m beating up on myself.” (Demi actually recently earned her blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but we get the metaphor too.)

She then steps out into the street, wearing a killer red coat, and walks past multiple versions of her younger self – including her role in Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers. There’s even a reference to her overdose, when she passes a girl on a stretcher and touches her on the arm to let her know that everything’s gonna be okay. OUR HEARTS.

Ultimately, the message of the song is encapsulated in the catchy hook “I wonder when I love me is enough”. Her loyal army of Lovatics have shown their support by creating the #ILoveMeChallenge and sharing their dance videos on social media:

I am hearing the song for the first and I have fallen in love with it. A big no to rationalism seen in all parts of the world. Thanks for spreading positivity and love through the above album. Good work Demi Lovato.
