V’s much anticipated song ‘Sweet Night’ for JTBC’s drama “Itaewon Class” has been released. On March 13 at 6pm KST, the single was released on online music sites along with the official music video. The MV follows the character Park Sae Ro Yi (Park Seo Joon) through his ups and downs and his relationship with Jo Yi Seo (Kim Da Mi).

‘Sweet Night’ is a direct reference to the drama’s DanBam pub (단밤 translated is ‘sweet night’), a location that is very meaningful to the drama’s plot. Also, the reason for that name was so that Sae Ro Yi can hope that his bitter nights will be sweet again.

The song was composed, written, produced and sung entirely in English by V himself. Prior to its release, ‘Sweet Night’ was described as an acoustic indie-pop ballad and fits the mood of the drama perfectly. The low-tempo ballad features heartbreaking lyrics portraying conflicting feelings, constantly floating between love and hope. The melody of the song is soft and comforting.

V shared his thoughts on being able to work on his first ever solo OST by not only singing, but also producing the track.

“I read the webtoon for ‘Itaewon Class’ a long time ago, and I remember finding it really entertaining with a message of its own. I particularly liked the character Park Sae Ro Yi, and I’m so happy that my good friend and hyung is playing him. I’m also thankful to be able to participate in such a great drama through a self-produced track. I hope you will all love it a lot.”
