K-pop idol Jaehyun has made his long-awaited comeback with a new single, “99 Degrees”. The NCT member released his debut solo album J back in 2024, which peaked at #18 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. As a soloist, Jaehyun has been able to curate his own signature sound and aesthetic by participating in the lyrics and composition of his work (including this song). This heartfelt ballad is the newest addition to his growing collection of romantic and charming tracks.
“99 Degrees” is a slow-build with a soft and sweet aura, luring the listener in with an emotional piano instrumental while Jaehyun uses his velvet-smooth voice to pour his heart out through the lyrics. Love songs penned about embracing imperfection are always at risk of sounding cliche at this point in human history, but the earnestness in the writing and the vocal performance push this track into the safe zone. In a press statement the idol said, “I’m happy to finally share ‘99 Degrees’, a song I worked on with a lot of love. I hope listeners can also feel the beauty of finding something complete within imperfection.”
Jaehyun will also be joining his fellow NCT 127 members this month for their seventh full-length album, coming August 24, and their fifth world tour NEO CITY – THE REDLINE. This year marks the tenth anniversary of NCT as a group, and “99 Degrees” is the newest installment of their ongoing project NCT 2026.
