For K-pop group EVNNE, tstheir late comeback feels a little different, but in the best way possile. With 뱉어 (Backtalk), members KEITA, PARK HANBIN, LEE JEONGHYEON, MUN JUNGHYUN, and PARK JIHOO aren’t just returning with new music, they’re opening up a new side of themselves that fans haven’t fully seen before. This time, instead of trying to be flawless, they’re choosing honesty, showing their imperfections and turning them into something powerful and real.

The members were deeply involved in shaping their 1st Single Album, from writing lyrics to building its overall sound, pouring their thoughts, struggles, and ambitions into every detail. You can feel that sincerity throughout the project—it’s the kind of release that feels personal, like they’re speaking directly to the fans who’ve been with them every step of the way. As they step into this new era as five, there’s a stronger sense of unity and confidence, but also a willingness to take risks and try something new. It is time to have a deeper look with EVNNE into the new direction of their musical career.

What concept does EVNNE explore in their single album 뱉어 (Backtalk)?

MUN JUNGHYUN: 뱉어 (Backtalk) is our first album as EVNNE became an official group, and we wanted to show our group’s direction moving forward. So we focused on telling our honest stories that only EVNNE members can share, rather than trying to portray perfection, where we directly face our imperfections and show a more genuine side of ourselves.

What led you to choose a single album format for this release?

KEITA: Since this album represents our new beginning, we wanted to clearly establish EVNNE’s colors and identity and deliver our sincerity. We decided to work on a single album to focus more deeply on every step.
PARK HANBIN: After reorganizing as a five-member group, we spent a lot of time discussing what truly defines us to prepare for this album. Through that process, we concluded that a single album was the best format to express our colors.
PARK JIHOO: We wanted to do something that only we could do. Our company suggested a single album format to start with, and from there, we decided on the genres and references.

What inspired the creation of 뱉어 (Backtalk)?

PARK HANBIN: The countless feedback meetings we had with our company CEO made us reflect a lot. Watching the hip-hop show, Show Me the Money 12, also helped me learn and grow technically.
LEE JEONGHYEON: We received a lot of input and ideas from our company, and we also looked back on our past history and experiences to get inspiration for our honest stories.
PARK JIHOO: Everything started with the thought, “Let’s do something only we can do.” We chose the song genre and wrote the lyrics ourselves, which makes this album particularly meaningful to us.

Can you walk us through the creative process behind this project?

KEITA: All of our members gathered to discuss and share ideas so we could tell our story more authentically. I also recorded the guide vocals, which helped deepen our understanding of the album.
PARK HANBIN: From the song genre to the concept and production, we discussed everything about this
album together, and KEITA even recorded the guide vocals seven times. We kept refining the album through constant discussion and revision. We put a lot of effort into this album, so we would appreciate it if you enjoy listening to it.
LEE JEONGHYEON: We wrote the title track lyrics entirely by ourselves without any outside help, and we even had a 10-hour lyric session, showing how much time and passion we poured into this album.

What image or stereotype is EVNNE aiming to break away from with this release?

PARK HANBIN: We want to show that what you see as a weakness can actually become a strength through self-diss. We wish to present a new version of EVNNE that isn’t afraid of our flaws.
LEE JEONGHYEON: I personally tend to hide my weaknesses, but I want to embrace them as part of who I am from now on, just like the message of our title track.
MUN JUNGHYUN: If people thought we weren’t confident in hip-hop because we hadn’t done it before, they’re totally mistaken. We’ll show you what the hip-hop version of EVNNE looks like!

How does the B-side track “STAY” differ from the title track in both sound and concept?

KEITA: If the title track dealt with honestly confronting our weaknesses, this track represents taking the next step forward with a more upbeat and energetic sound.
LEE JEONGHYEON: I think they’re quite different in genres. The title track is based on a digicore genre, while “STAY” is based on an electroclash genre, which has a brighter, more bouncy, and exciting vibe.
PARK JIHOO: “STAY” is about creating change in our own way rather than waiting for miracles. It's a faster and more energetic song than 뱉어(Backtalk).

How does 뱉어 (Backtalk) reflect EVNNE’s chemistry and unity as you begin this new chapter as an official group?

KEITA: We really focused on creating the album together and had many honest conversations throughout the process. Please look forward to the stories EVNNE will continue to tell!
LEE JEONGHYEON: Since we all participated in the planning and production of this album from start to finish, I’m confident that you’ll see how much closer and stronger we became as a team.
MUN JUNGHYUN: This album captures EVNNE’s history, so you’ll be able to see our journey, growth, and bonding as a team.

How does the meaning behind EVNNE’s name connect with the themes of this release?

KEITA: Since this album marks a new beginning for us, all members participated in writing the lyrics. I think that allowed us to showcase our members’ abilities and prove why we’re called EVENing’s Newest Etoiles, or ‘newly rising stars in the night sky.’
MUN JUNGHYUN: In our teaser, there was a phrase, “5 stars, spit it out to the world.” Since our name, EVNNE, represents ‘newly rising stars,’ it connects directly to this album.
PARK JIHOO: Our group name means “newly rising stars,” so this album represents our new chapter and us shining again.

Is there anything in the upcoming future that you’re especially excited about?

PARK HANBIN: We’re making a comeback with a completely new genre, and I hope our fans enjoy it. It’s been a while since our last comeback, so I can’t wait to meet fans on stage!
MUN JUNGHYUN: I’m really excited to perform on music shows again and make many memories with ENNVEs!
PARK JIHOO: I’m looking forward to the stages we’ll create with our fans and also excited about our future musical direction.

Do you have a message you’d like to share with your fans, ENNVE?

KEITA: Hello ENNVE, this is EVNNE! Through our new album, 뱉어 (Backtalk), we’re opening a new chapter of EVNNE with all of you. We worked hard to show a more grown and cooler side of EVNNE, so please show us lots of love and support!
