We all know that Ariana Grande is a woman full of surprises. After dropping the music video of her ”34+35 remix” featuring Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion (which was already a BIG surprise for fans), Ariana dropped the deluxe version from her album Positions — including FOUR new songs!
And as a big Ari stan, I’d love to share my opinion with you about these four new tracks and the meaning behind them, so let’s get into it.
1. “someone like u”
The first new song on the album is ”someone like u,” a song that’s only one minute and 16 seconds long. A cute but simple interlude for the deluxe album, “someone like u” is dedicated to Ariana’s fiancé, Dalton Gomez (aka, the guy she’s been waiting for). In the lyrics, she also drops clues about her past relationships: “Baby, this time, please don’t be too good to be true.” It was super cute to dedicate this song to Dalton, and all I can say is, I am so happy for them!
2. “test drive”
A catchy song just to vibe on! Definitely one of my favorites on the deluxe album. Ariana revealed earlier at the music video release from the “34+35″ remix that it was hard for her to choose between ”test drive” and ”love language” to put on the normal Positions album. And I can see why, since they’re both bangers. In the end, she chose ”love language” to put on the normal version from Positions and left “test drive” for the deluxe.
3. “worst behavior”
The third new song is called ”worst behavior.” I’ve got to admit, this is my personal favorite from the deluxe album! Especially the chorus — it’s SO good. So far, no one really knows what “worst behavior” is about, but with lyrics like, ”So can you keep it secret?” and, ”Just promise you won’t say nothin’,” you could maybe conclude that it’s about having a secret relationship? Which Ariana can relate to since she tries to keep her relationship with Dalton Gomez private as much as possible.
4. “main thing”
The new song ”main thing” is the last track on the deluxe album. This song is SO adorable. Seriously, when I heard the meaning of the song, I almost started to cry. Ari says ”main thing” is again about loving her partner Dalton Gomez and how much he cares about her. In the song, you can hear her sing about how different he is from her past relationships and the love she has for him. Personally, the song is my least favorite of the album, but the meaning behind it makes it so much better and cuter.
I think I speak for us all when I say how happy we are for Ariana because she deserves all the love and happiness in the world.
Of course, we don’t know if this is really the end of the Positions era. But Arianators are speculating about a new era since the description of the deluxe album on Apple Music writes about a new ”chapter.”
Whatever it could be, these new songs are very sweet and cute dedications to her fiancé, Dalton Gomez, who’s is obviously a big inspiration for Ariana’s current music.
