It’s only been a few months since Ed Sheeran made his triumphant return to music and dropped his third studio album, but now our favourite ginger heartthrob is talking about his next release.
While nothing is said and final, Ed did discuss a few things, such as the album name. For those of you who are guessing ‘subtract (-)’, don’t be too surprised if you’re right. Ed reportedly said to tabloids with a smile, “It’s within that vein”. Well, it would make complete sense, really.
We have quite a while until the next album, but Ed’s been having a chinwag of the process of the unreleased and unnamed tracks. He’s been talking a lot to tabloids and has said: “I’ve been working on this one since the same time as ‘Plus’. Every year I write a song that will go on it. So I have about six, seven at the moment.”
Mr. Sheeran has also been going on about potential collabs for the next record, with DJ Khaled being quite high on the list. “Me and DJ Khaled were talking about doing a song but I haven’t had any time to go in the studio, so I missed this album. But hopefully next year. I’m keeping open.” YAAAS.
Our boy Justin Bieber was another name linked to Ed’s fourth album. “I’m always, always up for working with Bieber,” Ed explained to the tabloids , “He’s doing a lot of these features then he’s touring. But when he wants to start making another album, I’d love to be involved. I’ve got some ideas. I think he’s really talented. And his head’s screwed on properly now.”
We need to hear that collab happen.
Camila Cabello recently talked about wanting to do a song in Spanish with Ed, so if Sheerio wants to add that to the track listing, we wouldn’t be mad at all. Quite the opposite in fact. Also, while you’re at it, Eddie boy, please collab with Harry Styles kthxbai.
Since he’s been talking so much about it, a fan on Twitter has even designed what they believe the artwork is going to look like. It’s so good, you’d think it’s official…
Pretty spot on, huh?
Now, seeing as he’s been spilling the beans about the future record, the due date can’t be that far away, can it? Um… well, maybe…
“It will potentially come later, because it’s been about six years in the making and it might be another three or four. So I might put other stuff out before then, just to have something out.”
*Counts fingers*…2021?! So… next decade?! That’s a very long time to wait, Ed. Why did you start teasing it so soon?
Oh well, at least the divide era is still alive and kicking and we have that monstrous stadium tour to look forward to!
