Book 2 of the Mortal Instruments series got the gorgeous 15th anniversary hardcover treatment in July. The new edition has runes all over the cover, matching the first book City of Bones perfectly. We are so glad that Walker Books is actually revamping all of the books in the series instead of stopping at book 1, though how long would it take for us to get our hands on the entire series? To celebrate The Bone Season‘s 10th anniversary, Bloomsbury Books is releasing a new version, with an absolutely breathtaking cover, and revised material. Yes, you read that right! It’s pretty rare that authors get to go back and edit their debut so you should definitely check out this edition. Heartstopper 3 special edition

Hachette rereleased all the Heartstopper books in hardcover this year. Each book comes with a gorgeous foiled cover, and a mini-comic. These mini-comics you can find on Alice Oseman’s site but hey, it’s nice to see them printed! Book 3 just came out in August, and you need to wait until October to get the special hardcover edition of book 4.

This big book was first published 10 years ago, but to celebrate 100 years since Judith Kerr’s birth, HarperCollins Children’s published a new edition, with a new chapter written by her son, Matthew Kneale, and a cover drawn by Tacy Kneale. This book is perfect as a gift book for anyone who love Judith Kerr’s works, and adults would definitely love this as well. In this book, Judith Kerr writes about her own riveting life story, and her story is accompanied by her lovely illustrations.

 

 

 

Holes 25th anniversary edition

Holes is one of our favourite books from our childhood and this year is its 25th anniversary. (Did we just reveal our age accidentally?) The 25th anniversary edition has a simplistic yet catchy cover. And it is packed with new contents, from a foreword from Phil Earle, author of When the Sky Falls, to a new letter and ten fun facts from Louis Sachar himself. There are also fun quizzes and reading group notes at the back of the book, giving readers a well-rounded reading experience.

 

 

 

Geek Girl 10th year anniversary

Geek Girl by Holly Smale – 10th anniversary edition

Geek Girl first came out 10 years ago and has become a successful book series. In the 10th anniversary edition, Holly Smale adds a heartfelt letter at the beginning of the book, detailing her experiences as a teen model, and how that became the start of Harriet Manners. But more importantly, she also explains how readers made her understand and accept herself.

 

 

 

Little Prince 80th illustrated special edition

This special edition is illustrated by Chris Riddell, who needs no introduction. Even though the story is relatively short, this edition is full of illustrations throughout the book. It is printed on thick paper and is a gorgeous jacketed hardback, making it a great gift for adults and children alike.

 

 

 

Skellig 25th anniversary illustrated edition

Hachette Children’s

Skellig won the Carnegie Medal back when it was published in 1998, and it has been adapted into a play, an opera, and a movie. So it’s been super nice to see that Hachette is reintroducing this important book to the younger generation. Illustrated by Tom de Freston, who has worked on two illustrated children’s book with his wife, novelist Kiran Millwood Hargrave, this edition is a must have.

 

 

 

My Life Next Door new editionMy Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick – new edition

My Life Next Door first came out in 2012, and was nominated for Best Young Adult Book in the Goodreads Choice Award. And these are even more important given Huntley Fitzpatrick unfortunately passed away last year. This year, Electric Monkey released a new edition with a more modern cover. There are also matching new covers for The Boy Most Likely To and What I Thought Was True. 

 

 

 

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones – new edition
HarperCollins Children’s

Many of us grew up watching Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle, or at least rewatched it after seeing the amazing LOEWE collaboration. But did you know that the story is actually based on a children’s story written by Diana Wynne Jones? HarperCollins Children’s just released a new edition so now is the perfect time to pick this up. The cover done by Josee Shimazaki is pretty and each chapter features a gorgeous illustration done by Tim Stevens. And from reading the extra material at the back, we just realized that Howl’s Moving Castle is actually book one of The Land of Ingary Trilogy, with Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways next.
 

Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo – new edition
HarperCollins Children’s

Michael Morpurgo is a national treasure and his stories are all of great importance. This year, HarperCollins Children’s is revamping many of his titles and giving them a fresh look. Here we highlighted Private Peaceful, the book that won Michael Morpurgo several awards and led to many adaptations. Stig of the Dump clothbound edition

It is the 60th anniversary of Stig of the Dump and to celebrate Puffin added the title to its Clothbound Classics collection. The design is gorgeous as always, and on the back you can see the lovely quote: “Stig’s always here. He’s my friend”. You can also get a paperback 60th anniversary edition from the regular Puffin Classics collection.

 

 

 

Tithe new editionTithe by Holly Black – new edition

Holly Black’s most famous faerie series is perhaps The Folk of the Air, or you might know it as The Cruel Prince, but did you know about the The Modern Faerie Tales? This trilogy came before The Folk of the Air and is set in the same universe. Simon & Schuster Children’s rereleased the entire trilogy this year and they in general match with The Folk of the Air series pretty well.
