K-Pop icons NCT 127 are preparing to release their seventh album BLINGY on August 24 as part of their 10th anniversary celebration. This will be the group’s first release since 2024, and the start of a new era for the seven members (Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, and Haechan) who recently re-signed their contracts.
Since their 2016 debut, NCT 127 has become known for creating some of the most interesting and divisive music in K-Pop’s history. Addicting hits like “Cherry Bomb”, “Kick It”, and the eternally controversial “Sticker” have fueled their reputation as one of the most daring and experimental groups of their era. Instead of shying away from the “noise” label they’d been given or switching up their sound to appeal to a wider audience, they’ve embraced it and adopted it as part of their brand. The acronym “NCT” stands for Neo Culture Technology, a once broad description of the larger system NCT 127 was created for that has since become synonymous with unapologetic, in-your-face concepts and sounds.
BLINGY consists of nine tracks, and is being described as a project that reflects the group’s pride and confidence. The group’s identifying number and signature color (fluorescent green) are stamped all over this comeback, and both the members and their fans seem ready for what appears to be the most “neo” album yet.
The current active lineup of members (Doyoung and Jungwoo are currently completing their mandatory military service) will be headlining KCON LA on August 14. Following the release of the album, the group then plans to embark on their fifth tour NEO CITY – THE REDLINE. Despite being a decade into their career, it doesn’t seem like NCT 127 will be slowing down any time soon.
