Camila Cabello is kicking off a new era with her first single in almost two years. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, but it’s safe to say we’re overdue for some new bops on our playlist.

‘Don’t Go Yet’ sees Camila embrace her Latin roots and has all the markings a light-hearted summer hit. The single is her first official release following her 2019 sophomore album Romance.

In her own words, ‘Don’t Go Yet’ “is really about having somebody that you like at a party and wanting them to stay so that you can have the night with them that you imagined… and they’re not co-operating.”

The song was released alongside a colourful music video by Philippa Price and Pilar Zeta. It begins with Camila driving a vintage car and changing the radio station, before the camera suddenly zooms out to reveal it’s actually a miniature model set.

She then arrives at a mansion, rings the doorbell and gets invited in to what appears to be a family party – which is when the music kicks in. What ensues is a fun night filled with plenty of dancing and vibrant outfits as the characters celebrate being together.

With the new track, also came the huge announcement that it’s the lead single off her third album titled Familia. Camila shared more details of the record on social media, revealing the inspiration behind it:

“This album was inspired by two things: family and food. Your family by blood, but also your chosen family. Who you want to sit at the dinner table, get wine-drunk and dance in the living room with. To me, those are the moments that make me glad to be alive, those moments of collective joy and true vulnerability and connection with other people.”

There’s no release date yet, but we’re expecting it to be some time later this year!

Camila will premiere ‘Don’t Go Yet’ with a  live performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airing this evening at 11:35/10:35c.
