Carissa Broadbent is best known for her Crowns of Nyaxia series, which became an instant sensation in 2022. But two years before that success, she published a completely different trilogy: The War of Lost Hearts.
This romantasy series follows Tisaanah, a former slave fighting for her freedom, only to realize freedom comes with a price. To truly be free, she must earn her place among the Orders, the most powerful organizations of magic Wielders in the world. That means completing an apprenticeship and binding herself to the Orders’ will, especially if she wants to save the friends she left behind.
The first book, Daughter of No Worlds was originally released in 2020 with a striking cover of Tisaanah in her iconic fiery red dress, which is a pivotal scene in the story. We love that original design, but the new cover? It perfectly captures the eerie, almost sentient undertones that take hold in the second half of the book—an element that changes everything once it enters the story (no spoilers!)
Daughter of No Worlds delivers what we’ve come to expect from Carissa Broadbent: a beautifully tense slow-burn romance, layered with vulnerability, and yearning. The magic system feels very fresh and creative, opening the door for further conversations about moral complexity and the worst side of humanity. The political intrigue is a bit on the less-developed side but with two more books to go, we are very excited to explore more in the next instalments.
Well, for those who are keen to know where to read this series, Tor Bramble is reprinting the entire trilogy!
