The last time Miley Cyrus released a full-length album was in 2017 with the release of her sixth studio album, Younger Now. With singles like “Malibu” and “Younger Now,” these two songs showed all of us that Miley is a master at creating pop music that has us feeling good.

Fast forward to 2020 and Miley is now proving to us all that, though she is still capable of creating catchy pop music, she’s also capable of charting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums with her seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts.

If you grew up listening to The Cranberries’ “Zombie” (which Cyrus just so happens to cover) and pretty much anything that contains synth-pop (Eurythmics, anyone?), this album will have you feeling nostalgic and doing some serious hairography.

Joan Jett (“Bad Karma”), Billy Idol (“Night Crawling”), Stevie Nicks (“Edge of Midnight”), and Dua Lipa (“Prisoner”) are all featured on Plastic Hearts. They became the perfect collaborators in crafting the pop/glam-rock album we have been all waiting for since she showed us her range when she released Can’t Be Tamed in 2010.

Miley shows us that her voice has the versatility to reach such heights in songs like “WTF Do I Know,” “Night Crawling,” and her lead single “Midnight Sky.” But it’s also songs like “High,” “Never Be Me,” and “Golden G String” that she shows us that she’s capable of going back to her acoustic roots and singing such sweet melodies.

The album also includes Miley’s jaw-dropping cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” which she performed at this year’s iHeart Festival.

With Plastic Hearts, Miley lives up to the track titled “Gimme What I Want,” and she does just that. She gives us the rock album we fans have been wanting for many years now. So, grab your favorite leather jacket and get ready to rock out, because Miley Cyrus has arrived!
