Shawn Mendes has canceled the rest of his Wonder: The World Tour dates, after previously postponing three weeks of shows due to his ongoing mental health struggles.

Shawn admitted he wasn’t prepared for the toll returning to tour would take on him, although he was excited to perform. He has previously said it was difficult to be away from family and friends, but the pressure caught up to him.

The canceled tour dates include the remaining North American dates, as well as next summer’s European and U.K. dates. Shawn has been touring since he was 15 years old and this was his fifth tour.

“After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger,” he said.

The singer has been open about his mental health journey over the last few years, first opening up about it in his song “In My Blood,” and talking about it in his Netflix documentary In Wonder. He has publicly supported going to therapy, and recently talked about dealing with insecurities, and feeling “overwhelmed and overstimulated.”

Although this is sad news for Shawn and his fans, he promises to return to the stage as soon as possible, and assured that he’s working on new music. Until then, we fully support Shawn and hope he takes the time to heal.
