The annual readathon, #tbrtakedown, is back at midnight February 6th! This week long readathon has a series of casual challenges designed to help you knock off a few extra books on your mountainous tbr pile.

Created by prolific booktuber Shannon at @leaninglights, this relaxed readathon has no word or book limits and was just created as an added incentive for the participants to read more. A series of reading sprints are being hosted over the course of the week on Twitter @tbrtakedown, and you can you add to the discussions by using the hashtag #tbrtakedown.

I am going to attempt to read a different book for each of the five challenges, but, ya know… life!

1. TBR shelf for over a year

I think all us book lovers are guilty of amassing more books than we could ever hope to read in one lifetime. I have a TON of books I could use for this, but I am going to pick Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. This is the third and final book in the Grisha trilogy and I’m looking forward to finally finishing this hyped fantasy series. I’ll be reading this in an ebook format and it’ll be refreshing to break up reading physical books with this.

2. Most Recent book haul

The Bombs That Brought Us Together by Brian Conaghan sounds like great readathon material. It is futuristic dystopia and measures in at just over 300 pages. A possible one-sitting book? Fingers crossed!

3. First book in a series

Okay, so this may be a slight stretching the limits of this challenge, but I am going to choose The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein. Despite being the most recent publication, this is actually the prequel to the ‘Code Name Verity’ series.

4. Catch up on a series

For this, I am going to pick the intimidatingly large Vengeance of a Storm by Anthony Lavisher. Measuring in at over 700 pages, this probably isn’t the best readathon pick, but it is one I am most anticipating getting to. This high fantasy is action-packed and full of chapter-ending cliffhangers that leave the reader wanting more, making it deceptively quick reading.

 5. Out of your comfort zone

I tend to read pretty a variety of genres and so this was probably the hardest challenge, for me. I have decided to go for The Memory Book by Lara Avery. Contemporary novels are something new to me and a genre I never thought I would enjoy. Recently I have been discovering how hard-hitting and impactful this genre can be and I’m hoping this read delivers more of the same!
