‘Hidden Figures’ is the incredible new biopic produced by Pharrell Williams that tells the untold story of the African American women behind NASA’s space race triumph. This film is going to cross boundaries of race and gender, and remind people that women of colour are a force to be reckoned with.

‘Hidden Figures’ recently got a special footage screening at the Toronto film festival, with cast members Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer attending with producer Pharrell Williams. Speaking at the festival an overwhelmed Taraji explained “if I had known about these women when I was growing up then maybe I would have aspired to be a rocket scientist”.

The film is a moving tribute to Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae), three talented African American women who worked at NASA. Together they powered one of the most tremendous space launches in history – when astronaut John Glenn went into orbit. I have a feeling that ‘Hidden Figures’ is going to sweep up at award season, and inspire many.

The cast for ‘Hidden Figures’ also features some of the best up and coming talent in Hollywood, which includes Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell and Kevin Costner.

‘Hidden Figures’ is set for release in the UK and US in early 2017, and I am so ready. Are you?
