People were skeptical when it was announced that Sony Pictures was developing a standalone sequel to the 1995 film ‘Jumanji’.
‘Jumanji’, one of the most beloved films of all time, holds a special place in all of our childhoods, and many of us were worried that a sequel could tarnish its reputation. Others were at least hopeful that the sequel, under the guidance of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, would make out for a good time at the theaters.
But recently, Sony pictures released the first trailer for the film to mixed reactions and failed to put our worries to rest.
Many criticized the trailer for its confusing premise and sharp change of tone from the original film.

Others were optimistic, many citing their appreciation for the actors’ performances and the film’s light-hearted take on the original.

Where do you fall on the spectrum? Do you love the trailer and are excited to watch the film? Or does the trailer rub you the wrong way, like it did for so many people who worry that resurrecting this classic was huge mistake? We’ll let you decide for yourself.
The new Jumanji film stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale. It currently has a US release date of December 20, 2017.
