90s cartoons that NEED to be made into movies

Earlier this week, the artwork for the new Power Rangers movie was revealed. If you grew up in the 90s, there’s no doubt that you would have watched an episode of this show. Since it aired in 1993, it took children’s tv shows into a whole new league of its own. This will be the third film to have been released in the franchise and is due to come out in cinemas in March next year.

Who are the Power Rangers?

For those who have somehow escaped this 90s phenomenon, the show followed a group of teenagers who in between going to school, battled aliens who continued to attack their city of Angel Grove (which is totally believable obvs). Protected by their armour that they were able to magically morph into, each of them had a different colour and a different identity.

As awesome as the Power Rangers are, I feel that having already had two movies made – there are other cartoons that could get in on the big screen action. Let’s be honest about it, the 90s were THE BEST time to grow up and we had some of the best cartoons of all time. Here’s a few cartoons that I think need some a big screen attention.

Danger Mouse

First aired in 1981 (which FYI was quite a while before I was born), I absolutely loved watching this show before I went to school. If you’ve never seen this before, it’s basically about the world’s greatest secret agent and his sidekick Penfold (little dude in the glasses) who protect the world. It’s obviously really good because it’s still being shown on TV even now.

2 Stupid Dogs

Remember this Hanna-Barbera classic? Aired the same year as Power Rangers came onto our screens, Big Dog and Little Dog were the dumbest dogs you could ever come across. Kinda made obvious in the title right? Although they were SO dumb, they were totally hilarious, or at least I thought they were. I could and still can relate to Big Dog because he was totally food obsessed.

Arthur

Every day when you’re walking down the street, and everybody that you meet …has an original point of view and I say HEY! WHY THE HELL HAVE THEY NOT MADE AN ARTHUR MOVIE YET? Ahem…sorry about that slight outburst, but seriously? This cartoon was THE best! I mean, it actually dealt with some pretty deep shit I know, but it also explained stuff and made things totally relatable. Arthur, you need your big screen debut, man!

Cow And Chicken

Cow and her older brother chicken (no idea how they were siblings but yeah…), lived with their human parents who we only ever saw from the legs down. The show followed them on numerous adventures and would often bump into their enemy Red Guy (who was my fave). I would love to see what disguises and different personas he would take on in each episode. This was some proper slap stick entertainment and was totally hilarious.

Did your favourite cartoon make the list? What 90s show do you reckon should be made into a movie next? Let me know what you think in the comment box below.
