Set in the 1980’s, twelve-year-old Will mysteriously vanishes and is presumed dead. His hysterical mother, Joyce, refuses to believe this and joins Police Chief Jim in his investigation. Will’s friends are also looking for him but instead come across a psychokinetic girl claiming to have information about Will’s whereabouts.

Still not convinced? Here are five reasons why the Duffer Brothers’ ‘Stranger Things’ is so good.

1. THE SOUNDTRACK

First of all, we have the ‘Stranger Things’ soundtrack. It’s filled with eerie and suspenseful synthesisers throughout the series that pays homage to the 1980s artists and film composers. It really is a stroke of brilliance and the nostalgia is real.

2. THE ACTING

Most of the time, child actors can make a show really cringe-worthy (Dawn from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ anybody?). This is not the case here. Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin are exceptional actors with Millie Booby Brown being the most noteworthy. Their characters really draw us into this upside down world.

3.  THE STORY

Have you had trouble finding a show that keeps you on the edge of your seat? Look no further. The Duffer Brothers have captured a truly original story full of suspense and awe with enough plot twists to keep your mind spinning.

4. THE PACING

It’s quite annoying when a show takes half a season to develop their storylines. You want a show that knows how to tell a story. ‘Stranger Things’ utilises each episode to develop a little more of the story with just enough to leave us wanting more.

5. THE NOSTALGIA

Paying homage to 80’s pop culture, ‘Stranger Things’ is that show you’ve always wanted to watch. You feel connected to the characters, you find yourself continually humming the theme song and it leaves a smile on your face.

If this isn’t enough to convince you to watch ‘Stranger Things’ you’re lying to us and to yourself. The countdown for Season 2 has begun. Mark your calendars for a 2017 release.
