Not only am I a beauty school dropout, but I also worked in a salon for a few years after college. I love the world of hair (and sometimes regret that whole dropout thing), and I jump at any chance I get to try out a new line of products. I’m also sort of a hair product hoarder; if anyone ever saw the amount of bottles I keep stashed away in my bathroom…

Anyway, Mister Pompadour is a popular line of hair care products for men, and when the ladies of the world demanded their own version, the engineers behind the line listened. Enter Ms. Pompadour.

Feel confident. Look confident. Be confident.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a few bottles from the line to review: strengthening shampoo, strengthening conditioner, smoothing serum, and dry shampoo.

Strengthening Shampoo & Conditioner – $23 each

ms pompadour review strengthening shampoo conditionerI have naturally dark, fine but voluminous hair that’s been professionally lightened, so I thought the strengthening shampoo and conditioner were right for me. Here’s what my hair looks like for reference, please don’t judge my messy apartment:

ms pompadour review hairAnywho, the pair of products is safe for color-treated and chemically-treated hair, is sulfate-, paraben-, and sodium chloride-free, and helps protect your hair from heat—which is great, because I love my curling iron (sorry hair). Both the shampoo and the conditioner have silk proteins that protect and strengthen.

I did feel that the shampoo left a bit of a residue on my hair, but I’m assuming that’s the heat-protecting barrier it creates. The conditioner smells gentle and somewhat nutty and made my hair very soft. For professional-level hair care, I think they’re really well-priced.

Smoothing Serum – $25

The smoothing serum is that kind of clear, slippery serum that will last you the rest of your life because just a pea-size amount yields the best results. It definitely helped seal my split ends at the bottom of my hair and keep the frizz away. The silicones in it make your hair feel super soft. (It reminded me of Biosilk Silk Therapy, if you’ve ever used that.)

Dry Shampoo – $19.50

I really like that this one blends in with my super dark roots, helps protect my color from the sun, and is free of all those bad ingredients. It uses aluminum salt starch and stearalkonium hectorite to absorb oils.
