I tried the world’s highest coverage foundation to see if it lived up to the hype

Is this REALLY the world's most high coverage foundation?

Have you ever wished you could find the IRL answer for an Instagram filter so you could look as flawless as your social media photos? Me too. But, after seeing this name mentioned next to the words “world’s most high coverage foundation” I just had to try it.

The Dermacol Film Studio Barrandov Prague Legendary High Covering Make-Up (try saying that 5 times fast) has been talked about by beauty gurus and bloggers alike in regards to its extremely high coverage. It’s not really a brand you hear mentioned that often, if at all, but after the recent spotlight on this product, in particular, it won’t be long until it becomes a well-known name.

The product is said to be created as the first of its kind in Europe, and one of the first in the world before the license for the foundation was eventually sold to Hollywood. Hollywood makeup artists, why have you been keeping this secret away from us?!

I was so excited to give this foundation a try. As I applied a small amount to my face with my beauty blender, I was in awe. The foundation created a beautiful and flawless blank canvas on my face, to create whatever look I desired and I didn’t have to worry about a tiny imperfection. Blemishes who? Pores where? New face, who dis? A little goes a long way with this foundation, so I feel as though this should last you quite some time.

Dermacol Film Studio Foundation Review
#NOFILTER – for reference I’m wearing shade 208

For the first seven hours, there were literally no flaws in this foundation at all. I had compliments from my friends and family on my makeup and I felt smug – don’t lie, you know you do too when you get compliments on your work of art. But after that point, that’s when things started to go a bit down hill. The foundation began to flake and I was close to crying – we’d come so far! How could you do this to me, Dermacol?!

The coverage on this foundation is second to none and as a solution, I believe if you add a small amount of it with your usual foundation, you should get the best of both worlds – staying power and coverage. If you’re only wearing it for a short amount of time, though, like popping out, doing a photoshoot (read: selfie spam) or whatever, then it should be good to go alone. This would also work wonders as a concealer if you wish to only use it for that.

So, what are the full pros and cons?

Pros

  • (Extremely) high coverage
  • SPF 30 (good for sunny days)
  • Good for all skin types
  • Waterproof
  • Hypoallergenic

Cons

  • Short wear (7 hours max, use our tip of mixing with a different foundation for longer wear)
  • Not a great range in skintones – Hollywood does lean towards whitewashing, which is pretty sad. Dermacol, please release this product in darker colours for our beautiful POC makeup lovers!
  • Only sold on Amazon and eBay, which is quite weird…

So, considering most of the cons can be resolved, I’m pretty impressed by the foundation! You can bet your backside I’ll be buying this beauty again.
