This is the first year of the MTV VMAs where more than one member of One Direction is up for an award. After his early departure from the group in 2015, Zayn Malik’s debut solo single ‘Pillowtalk’ was in the running for Best Visual Effects at the 2016 VMAs, and now it’s Harry Styles’ turn to throw his hat into the ring.
For 2017, while Zayn is up for Best Collaboration with Taylor Swift for the video for their song ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, Harry’s music video for ‘Sign of the Times’ is up for both Best Pop and Best Visual Effects. Apparently, hanging hundreds of feet in the air from a helicopter was worth it.

The VMAs will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday, August 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Here’s hoping both Harry and Zayn show up (to undoubtedly accept their awards).
