Recipe: Strawberry banana smoothie with coconut water

United By Pop received a sample of Invo Coconut Water for this post. All opinions, suggestions, and recipes are our own.

As any  veteran smoothie maker will tell you, all smoothies need quite a bit of liquid to get the blender cooperating. While some people turn to water or nut/rice/soy/dairy milk, I wanted to give coconut water a try. People have been obsessed with coconut water for a while now, since it became a huge celebrity fitness fad, and I thought mixing into a smoothie seemed like a great way to pack even more healthy stuff into a drinkable meal.

Invo Coconut Water uses high pressure processing to pasteurize (they call it “cold crafting”) rather than heat, and it contains 5 essential electrolytes and the same amount of potassium as a whole banana. So I also threw another banana into the smoothie for good measure. I used the pure, unflavored variety for my smoothie, but they also have a Tropical flavor with pineapple, mango, and passionfruit juice, as well as Sencha Green Tea.

The Tropical flavor would make an awesome smoothie with some pineapples and mangos, and you could even make a green tea smoothie with the Sencha Green Tea one. Here’s my very simple recipe with only two steps that you can always alter to fit your dietary needs and preferences.
