The members of One Direction have been making serious waves this past year—with all of them delivering No. 1s left and right, we’re waiting to see what 2018 will bring.

Liam Payne, who just released a track with Rita Ora for the ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ soundtrack titled ‘For You,’ sat down recently with Music Choice to discuss his upcoming and highly anticipated album—fingers crossed we’ll be able to get our hands on it soon. He also spilled the details on how he feels about settling down and what are some of his favorite places while on the road working on his music.

Liam expresses his growing love for New York due to spending so much of his time there saying, “I’ve actually spent a lot of time in New York. I’ve recently really grown to love the place, I think it’s amazing.”

But he doesn’t stray far from his fondness for his home country of England. “London will always be home for me, I am an English boy, I can’t help it,” Liam says. “I do love my home even though the weather is pants. There are much nicer restaurants in a lot of different places.”

When asked about what the public should expect from his debut album, Liam excitedly says he wants to delve into a genre that he loves, “I got to work with Quavo first off and Ed [Sheeran] and a lot of different people but for me I really want to tap into that urban scene because it’s what I love.”

Liam goes on to reveal what his writing and creating process entails, even sharing that he has a recording studio in London that he frequents, “I’ve done some stuff recently by myself where I’ve just got this little flow, where I sit in my car and just write and write and write and write and write. I have my own studio in London which is great, it’s got a real nice little family feel to it. I go in, record a few things, get a few beats off people and that’s kind of the way I’m working at the moment.”

Liam hasn’t officially announced when his debut album will be released but there’s no doubt it’s on our list as one of the most anticipated albums of this year. If it’s anything like ‘Strip That Down‘—a certified summer banger—we’re sure it’s bound to become an immediate favorite in the pop scene.
