Niall Horan announced his debut album duet with rising country star, Maren Morris, this past week at Capitol Congress. Morris also exclusively posted on her official Twitter account further confirming the rumor. Along with the duet titled ‘Seeing Blind,’ Horan also premiered some other tracks off his highly anticipated album that he’s been quite tight-lipped about.

‘Seeing Blind’ has been described as having “the acoustic base that Horan has made his trademark, along with an infectious chorus accentuated by Morris’ vocals.”

But we’re here to tell you that Maren Morris is much more than just her duet with Niall Horan. Born in Texas, Morris spent most of her childhood and early teenage years listening to albums from Patty Griffin, The Dixie Chicks and Sheryl Crow—all inspiring her to venture into creating music of her own. After finally deciding to put her dreams into action, Morris played gigs at bars and clubs all over the Lone Star state, earning her quite an exceptional reputation from local Texans with three hits on the Texas Music Chart.

Moving to Nashville at the mere age of twenty, Morris wanted to hone in on her songwriting skills eventually earning her songwriting credits with big names like Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson. She’s even opened up for superstar country acts like Chris Stapleton, Loretta Lynn, Little Big Town and is currently on tour with Sam Hunt.

Morris released her first major label, full-length album ‘Hero’ in 2016 featuring her Grammy-winning single ‘My Church,’ which debuted at no. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

While she’s gained a great amount of success in the past couple years, it wasn’t always that easy for Morris. She spoke out about her past rejections saying, “I think about all of the freaking talent shows I’ve tried out for in my life and I’m so glad I didn’t make any of them… It’s full circle, because I was rejected from The Voice. I was rejected from American Idol — and I’m happier for it now.”

We think it’s safe to say after winning 2016 CMA New Artist of the Year, she’s doing just fine without them.
