Digital Farm Animals, aka Nick Gale, had an absolute stonker of a 2016. His single, ‘Millionaire’ featuring Cash Cash and Nelly spent a whopping 18 weeks in the UK charts. We caught up with Nick to find out about his new collaboration with Pitch Perfect star, Hailee Steinfeld and what to expect from his live shows.

You’ve just dropped your new single, ‘Digital Love’ featuring Hailee Steinfeld. Can you tell us a bit about making the track? How did the collaboration with Hailee come about?

I always wanted to have a female on the record for obvious reasons and we were really lucky with Hailee. As for how it came about….It’s a small industry and when you work with the right people and get a bit of luck, sometimes amazing things happen!

The single is based on your friends’ dating troubles. What advice would you give to people looking for some digital love nowadays?

Keep swiping right.

Your last single, ‘Millionaire’ was a massive hit around the globe. When you were making it was there a point when you realised it was going to smash the charts?

I just wanted to make a record people could have a laugh to with their mates. Only when I heard Nelly’s verse did I think, ‘fuck this could be a winner’. It’s amazing how well received it’s been.

Since your last release, you’ve been working in the studio with some massive names. We have to ask, what was it like working with Liam Payne?

Liam’s a great guy and a really good writer. He’s full of ideas and I’m looking forward to working with him again soon.

What’s your favourite studio snack?

My manager wants it to be fruit. But it’s not. It’s burgers.

You’re currently on tour with Marshmello, what can people expect when they come to see you?

Utter chaos. Pigs flying, lots of free merch and other shit. Mainly just expect a fucking good time.

Flying PigWhat are three things you always take with you on tour?

Music, laptop, pigs

Where’s one place you’d love to play that you haven’t before?

Vegas, for sure.

If you could collaborate with one artist, dead or alive, who would it be?

Coldplay.

ColdplayWho are you tipping to make it big in 2017?

Well, I’d like to think I’ll help break an artist so I’d say Jay Pryor who’s an amazing young artist I’ve been helping out. Also… Saint PHNX.

Lastly and most importantly, what’s the best Easter egg?

Milky Bar.

Digital Farm Animals’ ‘Digital Love’ is out now.
