For some of you, Camryn is a familiar face who you may have seen on tour alongside the likes of Cody Simpson or One Direction. But now, at 17, Camryn is back with a brand new era of her music and we are so excited to see the little Denver girl all grown up and sharing her teenage experiences through song. We caught up with Camryn following the release of her brand new EP, ‘New Dynasty’, to find out more about the music and how life has changed since touring with the world’s biggest boyband…

It’s been a little while since we last saw you touring with 1D with different sounding music – would you say this is a new era for you?

This is most definitely a new era! I’ve grown so much since the 1D tour. I really found myself and who I want to be. Now my music is much more mature, edgy, and fun!

The new EP is called ‘New Dynasty’ – what’s the meaning behind the name?

There are so many incredible artists like Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. Many people including myself consider them legends. As a young and new artist, I aspire to be a legend like them and show the world what I can do. Like me, there are many incredible talented new and undiscovered artists trying to be legends as well. We represent the new generation of future legends and rock stars. We are the New Dynasty. That being said, I felt that this EP was the real beginning for me and the start of. New Dynasty.

Listening to songs such as ‘Stadium’ and ‘Legends’ and comparing them to old songs such as ‘Lovesick’ and ‘Now or Never’, there’s a fairly noticeable change in your sound. What would you say inspired the sound of your new music?

I’ve always had an interest in a more edgy sound but didn’t quite understand how to properly execute it. As I got older I got to experience more and I grew up a lot. I was listening to more rock music and comparing it to what was top 40 and thought that the combination of both would be awesome! Since the 1D tour I have been in and out of the studio creating new material and this EP is only the beginning!

‘Machines’ is the first single from the ‘New Dynasty’ EP – what does the song mean to you?

“Machines” was the first song I did where I sat back and said to myself “Oh my gosh this is it! This is me!”. I felt so good listening to it the first time through and I knew this was the single. The song makes me feel proud and excited for the exciting road ahead of me.

This is the first set of music you’ve released in about two years – is this an indicator for any upcoming and bigger releases such as an album?

I’m constantly in the studio making new songs and throwing wild ideas around! An album is a definite possibility.

You post a lot of content on social media showing fans that you’re very hard at work – what does a typical work day include for you?

Well, that depends on what day it is. My usual days includes schoolwork, vocal lessons, rehearsals, studio time, and so much more! Though I graduated from high school I’m continuing my education doing online college at Penn State!

Radio week was a B L A S T ⚡️⚡️ shoutout to my sidekick @aushit!! 🎸

You’ve toured with some pretty big names – is there anyone out there you’d love to hit the road, or even the studio, with?

There are so many artists I would love to both work and tour with like Paramore, Panic! At the Disco, Melanie Martinez, and Fall Out Boy. My dream would be to do a show with all of them at once!

What can we expect from you next?

You can expect some shows, always more music, and so much more. You’ll just have to wait and see!
